Maharishi Offers the
Gift
of
Total Knowledge to the World:
Create Enlightenment for Every Individual
And Invincibility for Every Nation
“Do it today—and ‘make
hay while the sun shines’
because who knows what will happen tomorrow?”
(December 8, 2004) His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi offered to every
head of state and the people of every nation the gift of the knowledge
of Total Natural Law to raise every individual to enlightenment and, in
the same stroke, raise every nation to invincibility. However, Maharishi
urged everyone to utilize the knowledge immediately, because the future
is uncertain in today’s destructive world.
“This is the gift of Total Knowledge—the Constitution
of the Universe—that administers the universe with perfect order,”
Maharishi said. “We offer this knowledge to everyone who would like to
enjoy fulfilment in his own personal life, and fulfilment in the life
of his nation and the world as a whole. But take it today and ‘ make hay
while the sun shines ’ because who knows what will happen tomorrow?”
Life in enlightenment is easier
Maharishi described enlightenment as the supreme
level of human development in which hardships and the struggle for
success are nonexistent. “Life in enlightenment is easier—life becomes a
joy,” said Maharishi, who urged everyone—students, working adults, and
retired people—to pursue enlightenment now. “It is your birthright to
enjoy bliss—Total Natural Law—which is available in the quiet recesses
of your mind and heart,” Maharishi said. “Close your eyes and dive
within to the source of thought, the Unified Field, so your awareness is
in complete alliance with Total Natural Law. Then, whatever you think
from this level, Natural Law will achieve it for you without stress or
strain.”

A few groups of 8,000 Yogic Flyers will surcharge
world consciousness with harmony and coherence
Maharishi’s program to create permanent world peace
calls for the establishment of a few groups of 8,000 people practicing
Transcendental Meditation and its advanced techniques, including Yogic
Flying. “Yogic Flying enlivens the Unified Field—the field of
gravity—with a gentle impulse of thought, and the body lifts up in the
air with the experience of bliss,” Maharishi said. “If a few groups of
8,000 people practice Yogic Flying together, scientific research shows
that the whole world consciousness will be surcharged with harmony,
coherence, goodwill, and friendliness. In such a coherent atmosphere, no
negativity will ever arise.”
For those who do not want to practice Transcendental
Meditation themselves, Maharishi offered another way for them to
contribute their share in promoting permanent world peace. “They should
hire a peace-creating expert—a Vedic pandit—to practice Yogic Flying and
promote coherent world consciousness, which is the basis of
invincibility on the national and global levels,” Maharishi said.
Consciousness-Based education will ensure
that no one makes mistakes in life
Maharishi’s global peace plan also calls for the
introduction of one class period a day for Transcendental Meditation in
all the schools, colleges, and universities. “Today’s education is
inadequate—it offers only fragmented knowledge and through the physical
sciences deals only with the physical values of life. In contrast, our
Consciousness-Based approach offers Total Knowledge and deals with the
basis of all physical values in the Unified Field—Transcendental
Consciousness. When you think from that transcendental field, your
thoughts will be upheld, promoted, and fulfilled by Natural Law without
you having to do anything,” Maharishi said. “Consciousness-Based
education will ensure that no one makes mistakes and no one creates
problems for himself or for others. All thought, speech, and behavior
will always be beneficial and fulfilling for the individual and
society.”

“We pity the youngsters who are destined
to fight for an imaginary freedom”
In response to a press question about escalating
violence in global hotspots, Maharishi cast shame on the destructive
powers that are “raining mass destruction on countries in their search
for weapons of mass destruction.” Maharishi also denounced the “mad”
decisions of government leaders who have a personal history of drug
abuse and therefore lack a properly functioning brain. “These ‘drug
people’ are wild on destruction,” Maharishi said. “We pity the
youngsters who, under this mad leadership, are destined to go to war and
die for an imaginary freedom. When these youngsters are gone, of what
use is the country for them?”
“We hope these ignorant leaders will improve their
ways”
Maharishi concluded by expressing hope that
governments—no matter how fraudulent they are today—will wake up and
take his offer tomorrow. “It is like a piece of fruit: at an early stage
it is sour, but given time it ripens and becomes sweet. Therefore, we
hope these ignorant leaders, given time, will improve their ways,” said
Maharishi, who then warned: “But if not, these governments will soon be
put out of office by the rise of coherence in world consciousness. And
wise, intelligent, peaceful people, who are expert in Total Natural Law,
will raise their countries to invincibility and lead the world in
creating permanent peace in the family of nations.” |

Maharishi Offers Vedic Education
to Create a World of Bliss—
Free from Problems
Includes Transcendental Meditation
to Awaken the Unified Field Within
“We have no right to criticize people if they fall down in the darkness
because we have not yet given them the torchlight.”
(December
15, 2004) Vedic education will awaken within every student the Unified
Field—the cosmic intelligence that administers the universe with perfect
order—to create a perfect man, raise every nation to invincibility, and
promote a world of bliss, free from all problems and suffering.
Lack of knowledge is the root cause of all problems
Maharishi
identified the root cause of all problems as a lack of knowledge—and
held today’s fragmented approach to education accountable. “Whatever
children learn during their student years is not enough for them to
utilize their full brain potential. That is why their desires are not
completely fulfilled and their thoughts are not fully effective—and that
is why there are problems everywhere in the world,” Maharishi said.
In contrast,
Maharishi said, Vedic education provides students with the experience of
Total Knowledge within their own Transcendental Consciousness to enliven
every aspect of their brain physiology. “Only the experience of
self-referral Transcendental Consciousness gained during Transcendental
Meditation engages the total brain—and when the total brain functions,
the Unified Field functions,” Maharishi said. “Throughout the ages, the
wise have proclaimed that ‘man is made in the image of God.’ So today
let us ensure that the Unified Field—the divinity within man—is fully
awake in the unbounded Transcendental Consciousness of everyone.”
The need for Total Knowledge is urgent
Maharishi
pointed to the widespread failure of governments as evidence of the
urgent need for Total Knowledge. As examples, Maharishi cited the
military, which has the power to send the youth to die in the name of
the country but has proven powerless to save the nation from attack.
Maharishi also cited the humanly conceived laws of a nation, which fail
to produce fulfilled citizens—and instead leave them unhappy and
dissatisfied. “Then, when the people are unhappy and make mistakes, the
government puts them in jail,” Maharishi said. “This is wrong, this is
cruel—this is not the parental role of government, which is to prevent
problems for the nation.” |
|
Rather than
punish people, Maharishi said, governments should fulfil their parental
role by offering the knowledge of Total Natural Law—the Constitution of
the Universe—to the whole population through its departments of
education, health, economy, agriculture, defence, etc.
Maharishi
also made it clear there is no reason to criticize people when they make
mistakes if they do not yet have the knowledge to live a mistake-free
life. “It is like the child who has not been trained properly to drive a
car—how can you expect him not to get into accidents?” Maharishi said.
“We cannot criticize people who make mistakes—we can only sympathize
with them. And we invite them with love and appreciation to take this
Total Knowledge to enjoy a life in bliss consciousness—free from
problems and suffering.”
Everything is possible in this scientific age
Maharishi
acknowledged that many people may not believe that such an ideal life is
possible. However, Maharishi emphasized, it is not only possible but
easily attainable. “Everything is possible in this scientific age,”
Maharishi said. “Through Total Knowledge, bliss is possible,
invincibility is possible, and Heaven on Earth is possible. And we are
doing everything we can to introduce Total Knowledge to the whole
population—to give a lighted lamp to everyone so that no one continues
to live in darkness.”
In response
to a press question, Maharishi emphasized the ease of training students
in Total Knowledge. “I have said repeatedly that it is much easier to
train children in Total Knowledge than it is to train them in partial
knowledge. This is because partial knowledge will never be fully
satisfying, whereas the totality of knowledge will always be
fulfilling—and will always promote a life free from problems and
suffering,” Maharishi said.
Vedic education will develop a perfect man and invincibility for the
nation
Maharishi
concluded by saying that Vedic education will develop a perfect man—the
basis of invincibility for the nation. “A perfect man is one whose
desires will be automatically achieved by Natural Law through thought
alone. A perfect man will be naturally harmonious within himself and
will naturally radiate that harmony into his surroundings. And when such
individuals practice Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying in a
group, their harmonious influence will naturally radiate out to create
coherent collective consciousness and invincibility in the nation,”
Maharishi said. “With the blessings of the tradition of Vedic masters,
here is an opportunity for mankind to rise to a grand level of
divinity—permanent peace and perfection for all of humanity.” |

Maharishi’s Holiday Message
“Know Thyself” through
Transcendental Meditation:
Gain Total Knowledge,
Promote National Invincibility
and Permanent Peace on Earth
(December
22, 2005) His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi offered his Transcendental
Meditation technique to the world as the fulfilment of education and the
basis of every religion: a simple, effortless technique for the
systematic exploration of the Self within. Maharishi said that with
total knowledge of the Self—the Unified Field, the Light of God—everyone
can know everything, do anything, and promote invincibility in his
nation and permanent peace on earth.
“Explore the
Self through Transcendental Meditation,” Maharishi said. “From that
level, Total Natural Law—which administers the Universe with perfect
order—will support your every thought, speech, and action. From that
level, you can move mountains and create worlds.”
During the
news conference, Maharishi also denounced as “nonreligious” the violence
and conflict between peoples and nations in the name of religion. The
only reason such fighting persists, Maharishi said, is because people do
not follow the ideal teachings of their own religions. “Suffering does
not belong to one who is on the blissful path to God, just as increasing
darkness does not belong to one who is coming closer to the light,”
Maharishi said. “There will be peace on earth, without problems and
suffering, as soon as people follow their religious teachings.”
For this,
Maharishi urged people of all religions to practice Transcendental
Meditation, which provides a simple, effortless way for any individual
to dive within and experience the Unified Field—the Light of God—the
self-referral Transcendental Consciousness within everyone.
Fulfilling the missing element in education—
the knowledge of the Self
Maharishi
also said that Transcendental Meditation will fulfil the missing element
in education. “It is not enough to only become an engineer or a doctor
or some other profession,” Maharishi said. “‘Know thyself’ through
Transcendental Meditation—and with this knowledge you will have the
power to know everything, be everything, and do everything.”
Maharishi
explained that Transcendental Meditation allows the mind to settle down
to the Self—the source of creation—the unmanifest ocean of nothingness
at the basis of all worldly activity. “Like the hollow nothingness
within the seed of a tree, which contains the potential of the entire
tree, the experience of nothingness in the unmanifest field has within
it the lively potential of everything in creation,” Maharishi said.
“From that level, you don’t have to work hard to achieve anything. You
only have to desire what you want and Natural Law will serve you. This
is the knowledge we want all of our children to enjoy—now and for all
future generations.” |

Vedic universities are being established to satisfy the thirst for Total
Knowledge
Maharishi
pointed out that while children are born with the innate desire to know
everything, their teachers and parents do not know how to fulfil this
desire. “That is why we are establishing Vedic universities, colleges,
and schools to bring Total Knowledge to everyone in every area of
society. Then parents and teachers can satisfy the natural thirst of the
coming generation to know everything,” Maharishi said.
Maharishi
also emphasized that older people are not to blame for failing to
provide this proper guidance for the young: “They have never had the
experience of transcending—they have never been given a peek into the
reality,” Maharishi said.
National invincibility has its basis in the invincibility of the
individual
In response
to a press question about his program to create permanent world peace,
Maharishi said that in addition to establishing Vedic educational
institutions throughout the world, global efforts are also under way to
quickly establish a few groups of 8,000 people practicing Transcendental
Meditation and Yogic Flying to raise every nation to invincibility.
“National invincibility is based on the invincibility, freedom, and
self-sufficiency of the individual. A few groups of 8,000 people
practicing Yogic Flying together will maintain coherent collective
consciousness so that no problems or negativity will arise anywhere on
earth,” Maharishi said.
Every individual and government is invited to
become competent in preventing problems
Maharishi
concluded by saying that now is the time to turn on the light of Total
Natural Law—the light of God—everywhere in the world. “With the grace of
our master, Guru Dev, and the tradition of Vedic masters throughout the
ages, we have the Vedic knowledge—the Total Knowledge of Natural Law.
And we lovingly invite every individual and every government to take
this knowledge and become competent to prevent problems and suffering
through proper education, proper health care, proper agriculture, proper
defence—through all the beautiful programs we offer at our Vedic
universities everywhere in the world,” said Maharishi, who then added:
“If people choose not to take the knowledge, and they suffer, then that
is their choice and no one can make them enjoy. But our advice is to
take it and come out of darkness and enjoy the light.” |

Meditation
Not Medication For Students
KRON-TV, San Francisco
Posted: October 28, 2004 at 6:07 p.m.
BAY AREA (KRON) -- We all
have to deal with stress on a daily basis. Children are no
exception. Now there's a new approach to helping children cope with
stress and improve their performance, both in and out of school.
It's an approach that stresses meditation instead of medication.
It may look as if these
students are doing nothing. But they say just sitting, silently
meditating has made a big difference to them. Student Nick Fitts
says, "It's a way for me to just throw everything out the window and
have time for myself."
Leslie Robb-Knott says, "I
feel since I've been meditating I've grown a lot in confidence and
inner strength."
The students are all
practicing transcendental meditation. It's not a religion or cult,
it's a simple, mental technique for quieting the mind. Neurologist
Doctor Gary Kaplan says there is a wealth of evidence to show that
practiced for just ten minutes twice a day, transcendental
meditation (TM) has a beneficial effect on children.
Dr. Kaplan says, "Probably
the most impressive are the studies of TM and its effect on reducing
high blood pressure in children and particularly in teens in high
school."
Doctor George Rutherford
has been a high school principal for more than 30 years. He says he
saw big changes in students when he introduced transcendental
meditation into his school. "Our test scores went up, our attendance
went up, and our behavior went down, it was amazing, it was
amazing," he says.
Because of stories like
that, the Bay Area Committee for Stress-Free Schools is trying to
encourage more schools to introduce TM. They say it is a simple easy
way to help students both in and outside of the classroom.
Aysha Wofford says, "It's
helped me a lot. I play basketball and it helped me a lot on the
court. And it helped me a lot with my academics."
The benefits are not just
for children either. The National Institutes of Health is spending
$20 million to see if transcendental meditation can help adults
fight cardiovascular disease.
